HOME: BREAKFAST ROOM

This is the first installment in my new Home series. My husband and I are in the process of decorating our home, and I thought it would be fun to share our progress with you (along with some fun, quirky, beautiful things that inspire me!). Please feel free to share any honest feedback on these types on posts!

I've had this first photo on my Pinterest board for months, and love everything about it. We are fortunate to have a formal dining room, breakfast bar, and breakfast room in our house, which gives us some freedom to do something fun and quirky in the breakfast room.

I love this inspiration photo because the whimsical mix of textures and objects, and amazing pops of color, make for a perfect casual dining space. As you can see in the second photo above (our actual home), the previous owners had the place decorated in a very traditional Wellesley manner -- which totally isn't my style! (credit Prudential listing).

The breakfast room is also off the kitchen, which we love and plan to keep exactly as-is. So while we are creating a quirky breakfast room, we need to be careful so it doesn't clash with the kitchen.

Here's what we've ordered so far, drawing inspiration heavily from my Pinterest photo. These pieces should be arriving in December, and I can't wait to update you with some photos!
NeatBit.net - Saarinen Tulip Table
Sleek, modern, and a designer favorite: Saarinen Tulip Table. The marble top is to die for, but we went for the white laminate top, which is more in our price range.
NeatBit.net - distressed white, yellow velvet Ballard Louis chair
Traditional nailhead Louis chairs to balance the modern table: Ballard Chair
NeatBit.net -Pottery Barn mason jar chandelier
Perfectly casual: Pottery Barn Mason Jar Chandelier

How AMAZING is this Restoration Hardware filament bulb?

  2. Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous place - can't wait to see the progress! I am slightly partial to Wellesley style because I studied at Wellesley College - but I wouldn't want my house decorated in it LOL!

    1. Hi Ella, thanks for stopping by! I grew up right by Wellesley College.. what a beautiful campus! And totally agree with you.. I'm a little partial to traditional styles too, especially when it's vintage-y... just not in my house! ;)
