Today I went to Boston Ballet's new Nutcracker and LOVED it!
Artistic director Mikko Nissinen did a fantastic job reinventing the production's choreography, sets, and costumes. Everything was spectacular (and less "stuffy"), although I couldn't help but notice how often some of the dancers seemed to be out of step. Perhaps chalk it up to having to learn brand new choreography this year?
The snow queen's costume was my favorite. I couldn't take my eyes off her tutu, which was delicately adorned in crystals that could be seen by every seat in the house.
I went to the same show a couple of weeks ago. The Opera House's decorations were amazing! I was shocked though at how many people were underdressed! I thought it was chance to best in your best!
Ah yes, the decorations were soo amazing! You're right about underdressing... it seems to happen more and more every year. Such a shame, because I love seeing people all dressed up (especially the kiddos)!
I'm going to the Nutcracker this Friday and just can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteYay you're going to love it! Have a great time! :)
