HELLO YELLOW
Some of you may remember my recent post about the breakfast room we're currently decorating. Based on the inspiration photo above, I've been piecing together elements bit by bit. After much waiting, the items are finally starting to trickle in.
The mason jar chandelier and vintage-y filament light bulbs arrived immediately, and I am happy to share that these Louis nailhead chairs were delivered today!
We ordered these chairs from Ballard Designs and to be honest, I had no idea what to expect. Ballard is an online and catalog retailer and, while I love the look of their pieces, I was not familiar with the quality of their furniture. I inspected each chair today, and am happy to say that upon first impression, they seem to be constructed of good, solid quality.
We chose a distressed white finish, which you can't see very well in the photographs but will contrast nicely against the sleek Saarinen tulip table on the way. We chose a yellow velvet fabric which is super soft to the touch and adds casual whimsy to the overall feel of the nailhead chairs.
Our goal for the breakfast room is to create a quirky but comfortable space for everyday use. I'm excited to see how it all comes together!
#Dying, it's all so beautiful! Would love to feature you and your home on Hogger & Co., sometime!
ReplyDeleteHey lady! What a compliment, I love your site and would be thrilled to do that! In the meantime, hope to see you soon around Boston! xo
DeleteJust saw this post Bettina! The chairs look gorgeous! Love the first picture with your puppy peeking around the corner :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny how scared she was of the giant boxes--she wouldn't come into the room! P.S.-Love all the Trees with Ease photos on your blog. Such a genius idea, and they came out beautifully!
DeleteThanks! I've been having the best time with all the Christmas decorating. It's so much fun!
DeleteThose chairs are magnificent! Your dog is so adorable, she looks so timid and sweet :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Georgina! She is a sweet pup.. was probably wondering why we have furniture in a room that has been sitting empty for so long, haha! :)

Thanks Brooke! That's such a spot-on way to describe them.. they truly are happy chairs :)
DeleteThank you so much for posting the pictures of your Louis chairs! I have been debating several months on ordering 6 of the square back Louis nailhead chairs from Ballard but was hesitant because I am afraid the quality won't be up to par. These look beautiful, though! I originally wanted the Suzanne Kasler Amsterdam chair from Hickory Chair, but the price was just a little out of the budget. Your pictures have persuaded me to place an order...now if I can just settle on a fabric choice.

Hi Ashley, I'm so glad my post could help! Having had these chairs for a couple months now, I now have a better feel for the quality of these chairs and am still very happy with them. One thing to note, my chairs have the distressed white finish so the paint is already chipped/vintage looking. A little bit of the paint has chipped off more, but it's not a big deal to me. Structure-wise, the chairs are very sturdy.
DeleteLet me know what fabric you end up with! There are so many options! :)
Bettina, thank you so much for the additional details regarding the distressed white finish. I am also going with that particular finish to pair against my dark mahogany dining table. Most likely, I will end up with parchment linen or the off-white twill fabric. I'm going for the classical look in my dining room, so the Louis chairs are perfect. Thank you again for the valuable information, it is greatly appreciated! :) P.S. - Your blog is adorable.
