GLASS HALF FULL

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you Northeasterners are ready for more snow (again!). I planned on popping down to Nantucket but cancelled the trip in anticipation of the upcoming weather. Snow + mph winds do not make for a fun ferry ride. And it actually would be pretty awesome to get snowed in, but a few commitments next week have me worried about not making it back to Boston in time.

On a completely separate topic, I've been feeling pretty positive lately. I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl by nature, but sometimes it's so easy to get in our own heads, bogged down by banal everyday issues, that we lose sight of the big picture and the fact that each of us has things to be thankful for. When I'm down in the dumps, or if something terrible happens, I always try to remind myself that there are others out there that have it much worse. And although you never want to think about the misgivings of others, it certainly helps put things in perspective. We all have something to be thankful for.

Although these ruminations don't really go with a "personal style post," I've received a couple messages lately and thought sharing my philosophy might also help some others reading this. It's not a groundbreaking state of mind -- in fact, it's rather cliche -- but it works. It's helped me get through some difficult times, and perhaps it helps you too.

Happy weekend!

  4. I'm definitely the opposite. I like to be pleasantly surprised when good things happen. I think I try to make my patients happy so often that sometimes I have nothing left :/

  5. i'm glad you're feeling positive! it's definitely hard to always see the up side but i really do believe that it beats the alternative. everything happens for a reason, right? loving this classic outfit, chambray is totally a staple in my closet =)

  7. I agree, we all have something to be thankful for. Thanks for this great reminder and yes, I do have a lot to be thankful for :) On another note, how do you like Velo? I kind of like the size but the only bummer is that the strap is not adjustable.

    Have a great weekend, Bettina!

    1. Hi Mrs. C, the velo is starting to replace the city as my favorite bal style. It fits a lot more, without being too big. And the strap is actually adjustable -- within a certain degree. I think they started making adjustable straps this season (or at least very recently). You should check it out.. I think you'd like it!
